The 11th edition of the Off Jazz Festival will take over Montreal in mid-October. Founded in 1999 by a group of local jazz musicians, the festival has become one of the premiere cultural events for the city. In 2010, organizers have moved the event from summer to autumn and have found new venues, but they maintain their core mission of encouraging creative expression within the Montreal jazz community. This year’s event brings together 200 jazz musicians in 36 concerts to provide audiences with nine nights of exceptional musical experiences.

The Festival starts with five free outdoor concerts on October 15-16. L’Off Jazz in the Quartier Latin: festive jazz and urban performance brings jazz to the streets in anticipation of the event’s formal concerts. The official Opening Night is marked on October 15th with an evening brought to you by the number 11. A specially formed band of 11 musicians will perform 11 new creations in honor of the Festival’s 11th edition. This year’s traditional 5 a 7s will be held at the Diese Onze Jazz Club over eight evenings. Other concert series within the festival include the Nocturnal Series: an avant-garde series and the featured Great Musical Moments: the 8:00 pm and 9:30 pm concerts.
